Cities are not built only for the people who live in them today. They are built with a vision for the generations who will call them home tomorrow. On June 30, 2026 Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut reached an important milestone when the plan for the new Ma’ayanot neighborhood was officially deposited with the Central District Planning and Building Committee.
Ma’ayanot will be the first neighborhood of Phase II of Modi’in, with approximately 3,575 housing units planned and the development work is expected to begin in 2027.
For me, this is exciting news both as a City Council member and on a very personal level. I have watched Modi’in grow and develop over the years while raising my own family here. Today, I also have the privilege of holding the Aliyah and Absorption portfolio and meeting families who are considering exactly the same question I once faced myself: Where in Israel do I want to build my home and my future?
Ma’ayanot is part of the answer to what Modi’in can offer the generations ahead.
More Than 3,575 Homes
The new neighborhood will be located adjacent to Kramim and is designed to contain a diverse mix of housing, public institutions, commercial areas, green spaces, an urban promenade, walking and cycling paths, and community spaces.
A neighborhood needs homes, but a successful neighborhood also needs the infrastructure for everyday life: education, employment, recreation, accessibility and places that naturally bring people together.
Making Room for the Next Generation
Housing is one of the greatest challenges facing young adults and families across Israel, and Modi’in is no exception.
Many of us have raised children here who would love to remain in the city as they begin the next stage of their lives. Mayor Haim Bibas, when he announced the plan, emphasized that the new Ma’ayanot neighborhood is intended to address the city’s housing needs in the coming years while enabling Modi’in’s sons and daughters to continue building their homes here.
For me as a mother, that matters. We want our children to go out into the world, study, serve, work, grow and succeed. But we also want them to know that there can still be a place for them in the city that raised them.
A Home for Olim from Around the World
I made Aliyah 34 years ago, so I know from personal experience that arriving in Israel is only the first step. Building a life here is the real journey.
For more than two decades, Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut has welcomed and absorbed Olim, and today we are proud to have a thriving and diverse Olim community made up of people who have come to Israel from countries across the world.
They have become an integral part of the fabric of our city, raising families, building careers and businesses, volunteering, contributing and enriching our community.
Over the years, we have also built a strong municipal absorption system designed to support Olim as they establish their lives here.
For potential Olim, choosing where to live is one of the most important decisions they will make. The new Ma’ayanot neighborhood is yet another step toward creating future opportunities for Olim families choosing to make Modi’in their home.
Looking Ahead
There is still a road ahead. The deposit of the Ma’ayanot neighborhood plan is a significant milestone, and further details will emerge as the process progresses toward development.
For families already here, Ma’ayanot means new possibilities.
For our children, it represents the hope of being able to build their futures close to home.
And for families around the world considering Aliyah, it represents an opportunity to join an established city with a thriving Olim community, while becoming part of its next chapter.
Thirty-four years ago, I chose Israel as my home. I later chose Modi’in as the place to raise my family and build my life. Today, I have the privilege of helping others make that choice too. The Ma’ayanot neighborhood is not simply about building 3,575 new homes. It is about making room for the people who will write the next chapter of Modi’in. And I very much look forward to welcoming them.
